The plane to the left was my very first big plane build. It is the FT Kraken:
Specs: wingspan: 70’’ Flying weight: 3 pounds 11 ounces Fun stuff: has a bomb drop and colored lights on the inside for night flying Motor(s): twin electric Turnigy D2836/8 1100KV Brushless Outrunners, producing 2.5 pounds of thrust each at full throttle pulling up to 18 amps. Speed controller size: twin 30 amp with 2 amp bec (supplies the servos with power) Batteries: twin 2200 mah (2.2 AH) lithium polymer batteries in parallel at a voltage of 12.6v, 55.4 watt hours total, each weighing 6.5 ounces Expected flight time: 12 minutes- 14 minutes at a little over half throttle the entire time. Number of servos and size: 2, 27 gram nylon gear servos Flying characteristics: great, has a lot of lift so I can carry heavy payloads, never stalls or drops a wing tip. It just slowly loses altitude. What would I change for next time: add more nose weight and down thrust on the motors because the nose tends to go up in the air. What I learned: the flying wing type plane is the easiest to build and to understand but it takes a lot of practice to get the center of gravity correctly. 3D printable add ons: https://www.thingiverse.com/TjomBucket/about |
DustyThis plane was a fairly small plane that was fun to build and fly. The main problem with this plane was its small wings which meant high wing loading and faster speeds needed to fly.

P-51This is by far my favorite plane. It is aerobatic, it has a large speed envelope and it is very forgiving when you get into situations that are not ideal. The only downside to this plane is flight time. due to its large speed envelope I tend to run at high speeds which drain the battery at fast rates.

ViggenThe viggen is an OK plane. this plane is fun to fly because it has the ability to fly at 300 grams all the way up to 1000 grams. the only downsides are build time (2 days) and the expensive power components. This plane runs a 70mm EDF (electric ducted fan) that is not cheap and it needs a 50 amp brushless ESC (electric speed controller).
